State Social Studies Standards enacted by the prior Board in 2022 begins politics in preschool with group identities, continuing with first graders explaining colors of the LGBTQ, diverse cultures, and “significant leaders” from minority groups, and minorities “representing their interests” in second grade, Some was mandated by HB19-1192; while my election lets the board moderate this, full repeal requires the State legislature.

» Bring Businesspeople, Engineers, and Scientists into Schools to Help Teach Reality

» Add Math-Based Science to Teacher Training and Rewrite Textbooks to Teach Science with Math, and Math with Science — Let’s Update Education from Aristotle to at least Newton.

» Add Basic Business to Teacher Training, and use Business-based Math Problems in Schools.

» Limit In-School Screen Time to Improve Student Attention-Span.

» Make trade training available where possible (The board regulates trade schools, and some districts do trade education).

The State Board and the Department of Education it controls is a huge chunk of Colorado government and usually uses 1/3 of the state budget. The only bigger line item in the “Long Bill” is health (e.g. medicaid—despite the Feds paying many Medicaid costs). The board and department do not report to the Governor. This is not the board of 1948. This board, although unpaid, controls much of the State government, with the local school boards it regulates expending over 10 BILLION yearly.

Flipping the State Board of Education from 5/4 leftist-D to 5/4 moderate-R allows conservative changes; only 3 seats (CD1, CD3, CD7) are up for election in 2026, and CD1 and CD7 have D incumbents. If you are in CD1 (mostly Denver county) and I’m not on your ballot, consider Fred Espinoza as his election would also flip the board.
